She has been featured in Prevention Magazine, USA today and has worked tirelessly for sexual abuse survivors rights.

Karrey’s story began at a very early age, showing signs of savant art abilities. By age 9 she was being hired to do covers for local publications. On the outside she was creating beautiful things, on the inside she was full of pain.

In 2005, Karrey’s made the decision to  give up a career as an artist and began working direct care in a state security mental health facility. A turn that would change her life.

There she began working with individuals of all ages suffering from severe mental illness, traumatic brain injuries, dementia, sexual trauma and personality disorders.

Karrey began noticing a link between creativity and its therapeutic ability.

She began working on a interactive music program that coupled staff with patients creating music together. The “Therapeutics” hospital band was born. And with it, a life long dream of being able to use creativity to help heal.

Karrey now speaks on the power of creativity, creative therapies and the struggles and gifts of the artistic mind.
